Whether you're trying to win the heart of a new crush or are looking for something fun to do, here are some cheap September date ideas that will have you rustling up some romance alongside the leaves (and without spending a fortune).

Batting Cages

Any sports game make for a great date, or first date. Batter up! Put on your favorite team jersey’s and get ready to go to bat for your team. Make it competitive… whoever hits less balls has to buy dinner.

Foliage Drive

Watching the green leaves transform to the vibrant oranges, yellows, and reds is one of the best parts of autumn. Hop in your car, pack a couple of sandwiches for a picnic, and take a scenic drive through mountain passes where you and your date can get an awe-inspiring look at the seasons’ changing.

Weenie Roast

Let’s face it, there’s never a bad time for a weenie roast. It’s chilly but not freezing – the perfect time for cuddling by campfire, munching on hot dogs and s’mores, and engaging in some good old fashioned fireside smooching.

Bubble Bath

Turn your backyard or porch into a home spa. Pick up a plastic kiddy pool and fill it with hot water and a bath bomb. Pack every safe and available surface with tea lights and turn out the lights. Burn essential oil in a purpose-made burner or light some incense. Play some soft background music. When you get out of the “Jacuzzi,” wrap yourselves in towels warmer straight from the dryer. Then, massage each other into a delightful daze with lavender-scented lotion.

Volunteer at a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or nursing home. The experience of helping others will unite you and make you appreciate one another. Check out volunteermatch.org to see what’s available in your area.
